there's all the love for working butches but what about butches who stay home and take care of most of the domestic work? the ones who clean and cook and wait for their femme to come home so they can dote on them and help take away the stress of the workday? the ones who may not have the decorative charm of a femme but will do everything they can to maintain the household and errands so their femme can forget about being in charge of just another thing. a butch so reliable that the act of taking such burdens away creates a space that nourishes a femmes desire to let go and fall deep into the arms of their butch who will never let them go. where's love for the butches who can't work due to disability but still brings something to the table that isn't just monetary value? where's love for the butches who worked their bodies into the ground far too early so they devoted themselves to domestic work because its something that gives them a purpose? where's love for the butches who daydream about doing this for their working femme?

i know i wrote this about mainly myself when i was feeling like the only way i was valid as a butch is if i was 6ft tall and a body builder and a breadwinner. but there are some days i cant take care of the house. there are some days where all my effort will amount to getting out of bed and feeding myself and finding something to distract myself from the unbearable pain im experiencing.
butches shouldn't have to only take care of household matters to validate their existence if they are unemployed or disabled. of course partners should aspire to being helpful in the ways that they can. but i think we should pay special attention to the ones who CANT do any physical chores even the ones that are considered low impact or easy.
we should also be VERY keen to see how oftentimes butches are compared to men. we all know the trope of the deadbeat boyfriend who takes advantage of his girlfriend. this is specifically about how misogyny/patriarchy harnesses the labor of women. butches arent men and calling disabled or unemployed butches deadbeat or things that mimic the way we shit on abled men should not be the way we talk about these matters.
butches do not owe you labor or atonement by virtue of being masculine. they are not predators. they are not people who use the patriarchy to their benefit. oftentimes we are so alienated that we are targeted and pushed out of our jobs because of our hyper visibility.
anyways. maybe instead of so many butch positivity posts we should reblog more of the femme appreciation posts too?? i have many of them
